Gardens grounded in nature
Hazel designs small and large residential gardens that are thoughtful and creative, connecting stylish homes with the natural landscape in ways that are unique and deeply meaningful to their owners.
Growing up in Southern Africa with generations of garden lovers shaped my love of the outdoors. With mud between my toes, big skies above, and the sun on my back, I discovered my happiest place — a space of freedom to roam. This experience gave me a visual narrative, a strong sense of place, and an enduring appreciation for beauty.
My designs aim to capture that feeling of freedom and possibility through a naturalistic style that reflects nature’s elegant shapes, flows, and energy. At the same time, they always give you more reasons to be in the garden, for quiet reflection or to gather with loved ones, gardens that endure.
Beauty lies in subtle design details that complement the character of each property. I bring these to life through quality, locally sourced natural materials and planting schemes that harmonize with their surroundings.

Hazel is a Finalist for the Society of Garden and Landscape Designers 2026 Student Award and a Graduate of the London College of Garden Design, benefitting from the expert tutoring of many first‑class, award‑winning garden designers. This foundation has embedded a broad range of creative and practical professional skills — the tools to design gardens that are both beautiful and deeply functional, with the level of detail required to ensure they can be built with confidence.
Hazel brings many years of experience in understanding clients’ needs and creating thoughtful, relevant solutions from her time in marketing managing well known brands.
This approach combines an eye for detail with end‑to‑end project understanding, collaborating closely with specialists and contractors to deliver gardens that stay true to the vision.
Simon is an engineer by training from Imperial College, London.
He previously worked in senior commercial and technical roles in large technology businesses for more than 30 years where he successfully led many large complex commercial deals.
Simon now brings that experience to the area of garden design as Commercial Director for Hazel Argent Garden Design.
